| Writer, born in Göpfritz an der Wild, N Austria. Founder of Austrian schools radio, he worked as a glass painter and restorer during the Third Reich, returning to radio work after the War and contributing much to the development of the country's radio and television broadcasting. His early work is Expressionist, but he later devloped towards Christian realism. His novels and plays include Der Kurier des Kaiser (1941) and Ein Bauer greift an die Sterne (1943). He was also the editor of the periodical Wort in der Zeit, renamed Literatur und Kritik after 1960, and co-editor of Dichtung der Gegenwart. |
