| biography:
| Ballerina and teacher, born in Ardmore, Oklahoma, USA. She studied in Kansas City, MO, before beginning her long career as a leading ballerina with the Ballets Russes (1938–46). She then performed primarily with the Grand Ballet du Marquis de Cuevas (until 1961), touring the world and making guest appearances with various companies. She later directed the Marseille Opera (1969–72), the Ballet de Nancy (1973–4), and from 1980 the Opéra Ballet in Paris. |
