| Soprano, born in Meridan, Connecticut, USA. Her career began in vaudeville. At Caruso's suggestion she appeared as Leonora in La forza del destino at the New York Metropolitan (1918), where she sang in leading French and Italian grand opera roles until 1937, also appearing at Covent Garden (1929–31). She later taught and directed opera in Baltimore. |
