| biography:
| Cricketer, born in Berbice, EC Guyana. Small in stature but immensely powerful, he was one of the West Indies' leading batsmen in the 1960s and 1970s. He played in 79 Tests, including 61 consecutive appearances, scoring 6277 runs and 15 centuries (two in the match against Australia at Adelaide in 1960–1). His fiery temper sometimes brought him into confrontation with umpires, but he rendered great service to his country, leading the 1973 tour of England, and to Warwickshire. |
