| Poet and performer, born in Liverpool, NW England, UK. He studied at Hull University. He became known as one of the ‘Liverpool Poets’ together with Adrian Henri (1932–2000) and Brian Patten (1946– ). A poet of bizarre irony and wit, he is well-known for his public readings. He established his reputation with the publication of Frinck, A Day in the Life of, and Summer with Monika (1967). Other collections of poems include Gig (1973), In the Glassroom (1976), and Waving at Trains (1982). He has also written a book for children, The Magic Fountain (1995), and a novel, Defying Gravity (1996). |
