| Banker, born in St Cloud, Minnesota, USA. He studied at St John's University, New York City (1952) and began a successful career in finance. He became president and director of the Federal National Mortgage Association, chairman emeritus of the brokerage house Merrill, Lynch & Company, and held directorships for a number of major corporations, including Mutual of America. |
