| biography:
| Singer and songwriter, born in London, UK. After singing with various groups in the mid -1960s, he began a career as a soloist, then joined The Faces (1969–75) while continuing to record on his own. In 1971 he simultaneously topped the UK and US music charts with the album Every Picture Tells A Story and the single ‘Maggie May’. His numerous hit songs include ‘Sailing’ (1975), which has become the unofficial British Navy anthem after being used as the signature tune of the 1976 BBC television documentary, ‘Sailor’. Later albums include Blondes Have More Fun (1978), Every Beat of My Heart (1986), Unplugged and Seated (1993), and When We Were The New Boys (1998). |
