| Writer, born in Ameglia, Liguria, NW Italy. A contributor to various newspapers and magazines, his first volumes of poetry were L'esperienza anteriore (1973), Versi occidentali (1976), and Il re, le parole (1980). These were followed by very successful pseudo-historical novels, including Cercando l'imperatore (1985, trans Searching for the Emperor), La principessa e il drago (1986, trans The Princess and the Dragon) set in the last days of Tsarist Russia, and Vangelo di Giuda (1989, trans Gospel According to Judas) which mixes intrigue, forgery, and pastiche . |
