| Physician, born in New York City, New York, USA. At the University of California, Los Angeles, beginning in 1972, he established a major bone marrow transplant centre. In 1986 he attained international renown when he travelled to Chernobyl (Ukraine), then in the Soviet Union, to treat victims of a nuclear power plant accident. A prolific writer, he co-wrote Final Warning: The Legacy of Chernobyl (1988). |
