| Actor and writer, born in Semley, Wiltshire, S England, UK. He trained in London, and appeared on the London and Broadway stages. In his film career, from 1938, he played many individual character parts, including the title role in Oscar Wilde (1960). His appearances continued into the 1980s, with Loophole (1980) and Sky High (1986). He was well known for his edited collections, such as Robert Morley's Book of Bricks (1979), and humorous anecdotal writing, such as Morley Matters (1980). |
