| biography:
| Geographer, born in Enid, Oklahoma, USA. He taught at Louisiana State University (1948–80), and specialized in the historical geography of Latin America, the cultural geography and ethnography of Latin-American blacks and Indians, and the biogeography of the humid tropics. His works include Pacific Lowlands of Colombia (1957) and the first volume of Handbook of Middle American Indians (co-edited, 1964). |
