| Judge, born in Cumberland Co, Pennsylvania, USA. He was president judge of the district court of Allegheny Co, PA (1833–46) when President James Polk appointed him to the US Supreme Court (1846–70). He concurred with the Court in the Dred Scott decision (1857). |
