| Painter, designer, illustrator, and decorator, born in London, UK. He studied painting from 1881 at the Royal Academy Schools, Westminster School of Art and in Paris. He executed mosaics in the Houses of Parliament and Westminster Cathedral, and held successive posts at Liverpool University (from 1894), Glasgow School of Art (1911), and the Royal College of Art, London, where he was professor of design (1918–24). |
