| Sculptor, born in Bay St Louis, Mississippi, USA. An early African-American artist, he studied at the Art Institute of Chicago (c.1920–4), and at the Art Students League, New York (1931). Based in St Anne, Jamaica, he was a painter who became a sculptor of expressive bronze works, such as Boxer (1942). |
