| Food scientist, born in Roseland, Nebraska, USA. In 1950 he joined McCormack & Co, Inc as director of research, in charge of investigating the flavour and odour constituents of spices. He was made vice-president of research and development (1965) and vice-president of science and technology (1975), retiring in 1988 to become a consultant. He was active in the International Union of Food Science and Technology, of which he was president (1983–7). |
