| Equestrian rider, born in Chepstow, Monmouthshire, SE Wales, UK. One of Britain's most successful Olympians, he won three gold medals - the Three-day Event team golds in 1968 and 1972, and the individual title in 1972 (on Laurieston). He also won world championship team gold medals (1970, 1982), European championship team gold medals (1967, 1971, 1981), Burghley in 1964 (on Barberry), and Badminton in 1970 (on The Poacher) and 1982 (on Speculator III). |
