| Painter of miniatures. He was a page to Charles I and Henrietta Maria, and the king gave away the bride when he married Anne Shepherd (1620–1709), like himself only 1·15 m/3 ft 10 in tall. He later made several portraits of Cromwell and was himself painted by Lely. |
