| Actor, born in Mbabane, Swaziland. He studied drama at Cape Town University before moving to London in 1982. He became known following his role as the down-and-out thespian in Withnail and I (1987), and later films include The Player (1992), Jack and Sarah (1995), The Portrait of a Lady (1996), Little Vampire (2000), and Gosford Park (2001). Television roles include BBC TV's The Scarlet Pimpernel (1998),Trial and Retribution (1999), and A Christmas Carol (1999). He has also published his diaries, With Nails (1997) and a novel, By Design. |
