| US film actor, born in New York City, USA. After working on Broadway and in repertory, he gained attention with his roles in Dillinger (1973) and American Graffiti (1973). He became well known following his performances in Jaws (1975), Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977), and The Goodbye Girl (1977, Oscar).
