| Physician and medical reformer, born in Brookline, Massachusetts, USA, the brother of Hugh Cabot. He was affiliated with Harvard Medical School (1899–1932) and Massachusetts General Hospital (1898–1921). He introduced the practice of medical social service so that a physician could treat the whole person, and as early as 1913 he advocated prepaid medical group practice. During 1920–34 he taught social ethics at Harvard and wrote on a variety of social issues as well as on medical topics. |
