| Economist, born in Konigstein, Germany. He emigrated to the USA in 1933, took his PhD at Harvard (1937), and continued to teach there. His book, The Theory of Public Finance (1959, McGraw-Hill), provided a definitive text that incorporates the economics of public finance into economic theory as a whole. |
