| Fashion designer, born in Turin, NW Italy. She became an apprentice in a Paris couture house in 1900, joined Raffin in 1908, and stayed with him for 20 years, eventually becoming his partner. She showed her first collection in 1932, and her fragrances in 1941, and developed a wide range of further products in cosmetics, furs, and fashion accessories. After her retirement in 1959, the firm continued to grow, and by the mid-1990s it had boutiques in over 130 countries. |
