| Writer, historian, and feminist, born in Brunswick, NC Germany. She studied at Zürich, taught at a girls' school there, travelled extensively in Italy, and finally settled in Munich in 1910. A neo-Romantic, she rejected naturalism, and wrote novels, social and political works, and works on religious themes. The first woman to be admitted to the Prussian Academy of Literature in 1931, she resigned in 1933 over the expulsion of Jewish writers. |
