| Poet, born in Rueil-Malmaison, NC France. A member of the first group of Surrealists, he split with them because of his homosexuality, then became a communist until 1933. In the satirical Les Pieds dans le plat, identifiable are the editor of the Jour and the society women that he was acquainted with. His main works are Mons Corps et moi (1925) and Le Clavecin de Diderot (1932). He contributed to Les Nouvelles Littéraires and Le Monde. His suicide followed the scenario he had desribed in Détours (1924). Part of his correspondence with his painter and poet friends was published in 1996 under the title Lettres de Désir et de souffrance. |
