| Artist, born in Palermo, Sicily, S Italy. He worked for some time in Milan, and settled in Rome in 1937. He was associated with various anti-Fascist groups from 1942 to 1945, and much of his work reflects this experience. After the war he began to paint dramatic Realist pictures of the lives of the Italian peasants. |
