| Writer, born in Paris, France. Brought up and educated in Buenos Aires, he returned to Paris (1954) and in 1957 met Albert Uderzo, an illustrator. In 1959 Goscinny founded the humorous magazine Pilote and began the hugely popular comic strip ‘Asterix le Gaulois’. It was translated into 15 languages, and after its appearance in book form (1959) it recorded worldwide sales of more than 18 000 000. He was honoured as a Chevalier of Arts and Letters in 1967. |
