| Physician and anatomist, born in Schoonhoven, W Netherlands. He studied at the University of Angers, practised at Delft, and in 1663 wrote a famous treatise on the pancreas. In 1672 he discovered the parts of the ovary that produce ova, which became known as Graafian follicles. |
