| Writer, born in Rixdorf, Berlin, Germany. He studied law in Jena, became a freelance writer, and produced early Expressionist poetry. Der Bettler (1912), with its revolutionary and philosophical conception, is considered to be the first Expressionist play and earned him the Kleits-Preis in 1912. He was killed on the Somme in 1916. |
