| French flower painter, born in St Hubert, E Belgium. He taught flower drawing at the Natural History Museum in Paris, and enjoyed court patronage for his highly detailed prints. His works include ‘Les Lilacées’ (1802–15), ‘Choix des plus belles fleurs’ (1827–37), and his greatest achievement, ‘Les Roses’ (1817–21). |
