| Rower, born in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, SE England, UK. His main event is the heavyweight coxless pairs. He was the winner of five consecutive gold Olympic medals from 1984 to 2000, a feat accomplished by no other Olympic athlete. He was also the winner of seven World Championship gold medals and three Commonwealth Games gold medals, more than any other rower. He received a knighthood in 2001. |
