| Musician, born in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. A versatile pianist and distinctive singer, he was one of the first white musicians associated with the rhythm-and-blues style of his hometown. He worked as a songwriter and session player (1957–64), played with a variety of rock bands until 1981, and concentrated on classic jazz and blues styles as a solo performer thereafter. |
