| Physicist, born in Navarino, Wisconsin, USA. He designed and developed high-voltage proton accelerators while teaching at the University of Wisconsin, Madison (1935–72). He founded the National Electrostatic Corp (1965) to manufacture his revolutionary pelletron accelerators, and resigned from academia to devote full-time service to his business (1972). |
