| Track and field athlete, born in Lafayette, Indiana, USA. Though afflicted with polio as a child, he won 10 Olympic gold medals, more than any athlete in history. He won the standing broad jump and the high jump (1900, 1904, 1906, 1908), and also won the standing long jump at the 1900 and 1904 Games. |
