| Biophysicist, born in Geneva, New York, USA. He studied at Cornell and worked at the Rockefeller Institute in the 1930s, researching into viruses. In 1944 at Chicago with Robley Cook Williams he developed the metal shadowing method for imaging viruses in the electron microscope, which has since been widely used. |
