| Inventor, born in Perth, Western Australia. Apprenticed as a fitter and turner, he studied engineering through correspondence courses and at night school. In 1972 he developed a working model of an orbital two-stroke reciprocating piston engine. The following year, with support from Broken Hill Propriety (BHP Ltd), he founded a company to market the engine, which was developed under licence by Ford and General Motors in the USA, and by Mercury for marine applications. |
