| biography:
| Queen consort of King Edward VII of Great Britain, the eldest daughter of King Christian IX of Denmark (r.1863–1906). She married Edward in 1863 when he was Prince of Wales, and became known for her charity work; in 1902 she founded the Imperial (now Royal) Military Nursing Service, and in 1912 instituted the annual Alexandra Rose Day in aid of hospitals. |
