| Athlete, born in Kingston, Jamaica. He gained world recognition with the sprint trebles, 100 m, 200 m and the relay at the 1970 Commonwealth and 1971 Pan-American Games. He went on to three more Commonwealth successes at the 100 m and 200 m in 1974, and the 100 m in 1978. He set the world record for the 100 m (9·9 s) in 1976 at Modesto, Italy, and 200 m three times (19·8 s). |
