| biography:
| Greek Neoplatonist philosopher, born in Constantinople. He studied at Alexandria and Athens, and became the last head of Plato's Academy. His approach, based on Plotinus, combined the Roman, Syrian and Alexandrian schools of thought in Greek philosophy into one theological metaphysic. His works were translated into Arabic and Latin, and were influential in the Middle Ages. |
