| British Princess Royal, the only daughter of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, born in London, UK. In 1973 she married Lieutenant (now Captain) Mark Phillips of the Queen's Dragoon Guards, but they were divorced in 1992; their children are: Peter Mark Andrew (1977– ) and Zara Anne Elizabeth (1981– ). She married Timothy Laurence (1955– ) in 1992. An accomplished horsewoman, she has ridden in the British Equestrian Team, and was European cross-country champion (1972). She is a keen supporter of charities and overseas relief work; as president of Save the Children Fund she has travelled widely promoting its activities. |
