| Russian statesman and social reformer, born in Popovka, W Russia. He studied law at Moscow and worked in the civil service, briefly becoming head of the provisional government in the revolution of 1917. Kerensky succeeded him, and he was arrested by the Bolsheviks, but he escaped and fled, eventually to live in Paris. |
