| Painter, born in New York City, New York, USA. He travelled widely, often visiting Quebec in Canada. A precisionist, he focused on fact and rejected emotional responses. His intellectual approach is seen in ‘The Factory’ (1924). His later work became more sensuous, as in ‘Plums on a Plate’ (1926), and ‘Still Life with Yellow-Green Chair’ (1928). He died in France. |
