| Novelist, born in Littleton, New Hampshire, USA. She studied music at the New England Conservatory before publishing her first novels, which included Cross Currents (1907) and Miss Billy (1911). Pollyanna (1913) was an immediate success, and has retained its popularity. A sequel, Pollyanna Grows Up, was published in 1915. Two volumes of short stories, The Tangled Threads and Across the Years, were published posthumously in 1924. |
