A member (factor) of the Haarlem Rederijkerskamer ‘Trou moet blycken’, he also wrote poetry and tragedies, but it is for his comedies that he is best remembered, and his Het wederzijds huwelijksbedrog (1712, The Mutual Marital Deceit) is still performed today.
