| Chemist, born in St Omer, N France. He became professor at the Ecole de Pharmacie, Paris. In 1817, in collaboration with Pierre Joseph Pelletier, he introduced the term chlorophyll. They also discovered quinine (1820), strychnine, brucine, and cinchonine. |
