| French humorist. At first a journalist, he wrote columns for Vendredi and, much later, for Le Figaro. He very successfully adapted English humour to the French spirit. Les Carnets du Bon Dieu gained the Prix Interallié in 1947. Best known for Les Carnets du Major Thompson (1954), his other works include Un certain Monsieur Blot, Le Jacassin, Snobissimo, and La France dans tous ses etats (1985). A collection of short stories La Mort des autres, was published after the war. |
