| Italian politician and poet, born in Capua, Campania, SW Italy. He worked for Frederick II as a notary, and was a judge of the law courts (1225) and a protonotary. He fell into disfavour in 1249 and Frederick had him jailed and then blinded. According to Dante, he died by suicide. He wrote letters in Latin and poetry in the vernacular. |
