| Scholar and historian, born in Florence, Tuscany, NC Italy. A member of the Florentine Academy which had been established to protect the Florentine language, he wrote the grammar Della lingua che si parla e si scrive in Firenze (1551), and the first historical work in Italian, Historia dell'Europa (1566). |
