| Roman King (1198–1208), the youngest son of Frederick I Barbarossa, brother of the Emperor Henry VI. He made himself king in 1198 and fought a victory over the rival King Otto IV from the Guelphs, who was supported by Pope Innocent III. Shortly before concluding a peace treaty with the pope, Philipp was murdered by the Bavarian Pfalzgraf Otto VIII von Wittelsbach in Bamberg in 1208. |
