| biography:
| Actor and poet, born in Nice, SE France. He studied literature, became a teacher, and set up Le Théâtre du Soleil in 1964 with Ariane Mnouchkine. He left teaching for the theatre and after five years began working in television and cinema. A sensitive and serious actor, he appeared in many of the successes of French cinema including La Gueule ouverte (1974, director M Pialat), La Balance (1982, Best Actor César, director Bob Swaim), Le Paltoquet (1986, director M Deville), and Les Misérables (1995, director C Lelouch). |
