| Footballer, born in Leicester, Leicestershire, C England, UK. Starting his career with Leicester City at the age of 16, he also played for Stoke City, Nottingham Forest, Southampton, and Derby County. For the first four clubs he established a record by making over 100 league appearances for each of them. He made his international debut for England in 1970, and became the first England goalkeeper to gain 100 caps. He has won all the major honours in the game, including League championship and European Cup medals. In 1989 he set a new record by winning his 109th cap against Denmark, thus topping the record established by Bobby Moore. |
